Recorder Chrome Extension
Use the MyVideoSpot Chrome extension to quickly launch a screen, video, or audio recorder directly from your browser.
How to Add the MyVideoSpot Recorder Chrome Extension
Step 1: Install the MyVideoSpot Recorder Extension
- Open the link to the MyVideoSpot Recorder Chrome Extension. This link will open the Chrome Web Store.
- On the Chrome Web Store page, click Add to Chrome.
- When prompted, click Add Extension.
- Wait for Chrome to install the extension; once complete, the MyVideoSpot icon will appear in your extensions toolbar.
Step 2: Pin the Extension to the Chrome Toolbar
- If you do not see the MyVideoSpot icon in your toolbar, click the puzzle icon (Extensions) in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Scroll through the list to find the MyVideoSpot Recorder.
- Click the push pin icon next to the recorder so it will always stay visible in your Chrome extension toolbar.
Step 3: Verify your Extension

Click the MyVideoSpot extension icon in your Chrome toolbar to begin using it.
In the extension window, you will be asked to verify your access:
- Option A: Enter your email address to receive a verification code via email, or
- Option B: Use an existing code from your MyVideoSpot account by selecting I already have code. Continue to step 3 to learn how to get your code.
- In a new browser tab, open and log in to your MyVideoSpot account.
- Click on your name in the bottom-left corner of your MyVideoSpot homepage.
- Within the sub menu, select Account Settings.
- Click on App Access.
- Click the option to Generate Code.
- Once the code is generated, copy the code or write it down.
Step 5: Verify Extension with Your App Access Code
- Return to the MyVideoSpot extension verification page.
- Enter your email or username. (Check your App Access page for the correct login identifier).
- Paste (or type) the access code you generated from your account's App Access page or received in your email.
- Click Verify Code.
- After verification, the extension will be successfully connected to your MyVideoSpot account and display your available recording options (screen, video, or audio).
How to Use the MyVideoSpot Recorder Chrome Extension
To use the Recorder Extension:
- Click the MyVideoSpot Recorder icon in your Chrome extension bar.
- From the extension menu, choose the type of recording you want to create: audio, video, or screen.
How to Create an Audio-Only Recording
- When you select audio within the recorder extension, a new tab will open.
- You may be asked to give your browser access to your microphone.
- Towards the bottom, you will see available settings that you can adjust as needed (e.g., microphone or quality).
- Once ready, click the red Record button.
- After the countdown, you may record your audio. You can pause and resume the recording, or click Stop when finished.
- Once finished, you can play back your audio to review it.
- You can use the recording trim tool to remove unwanted sections from the beginning or end.
- Make sure you title your recording.
- When you are satisfied, choose whether to Discard, Download, or Upload the recording to your account.
- After clicking Upload, wait for the “upload complete” confirmation, then you can close the tab.
- Your recording will now be available in your MyVideoSpot gallery.
How to Create a Video Recording
- From the extension menu, choose the Video recording option.
- You may be prompted to grant your browser permission to use the camera and microphone.
- A new tab will open and you will see a preview of your camera. Below the video preview, you will see various settings that you can adjust to fit your needs (e.g., camera, microphone, resolution, background effects).
- After configuring your settings, click Record. When the countdown finishes, record your video, then click Stop when done.
- Review the video playback and trim any unwanted portions at the beginning or end.
- Give the recording a clear title, then choose to Discard, Download, or Upload it.
- Once the upload is completed, you can return to your MyVideoSpot homepage and you will see the item processing in your account.
How to Create a Screen Recording
- Open the MyVideoSpot Recorder Chrome extension and select the Screen recording option.
- Select what you want to capture (e.g., a specific Chrome tab, a window, or your entire screen), and choose whether to share the tab's audio if you need system sound (such as a video’s audio).
- Click Share. A bar will appear at the top of the browser or at the bottom indicating what is being shared.

Unlike the audio and video recorders, the screen recorder preview and settings will open within a new window.
It will create a separate icon from Chrome on the taskbar. - Configure any screen recording settings, including microphone selection and other preferences.
- Then, click Start Recording.
- Now you can interact with the items open on your screen for your recording.
- When finished, select Stop Sharing, then open the pop-up MyVideoSpot icon in your taskbar and click Stop Recording.
- You have the ability to replay your screen recording.
- You can use the trim feature to remove unwanted portions at the beginning or the end of your screen recording.
- Make sure you preview your trimmed version before you select Apply. Once the trim is applied, you will not be able to go back to the previous version.
- Don't forget to name your recording, and then choose to Discard, Download, or Upload.
- After selecting Upload, you will see your item processing within your MyVideoSpot account.
